This is what you want to know! The Secret of how to by pass every gate keeper and get your foot into the door for your prospects. This takes a little work, effort, and know how to get through, but I promise it is one that will help you soar above the rest.

First lets talk about the dreaded Gate Keeper who holds your fate with the prospect you want to speak with so badly. This is the person who holds the key to your success, but lets be honest at the end of the day they are human just like you and me. They have feelings, want to be respected, and try to enjoy life as much as possible. They are also the person in the business who knows more then you think, they know all the right people you need to speak to, they have inside knowledge of what they are looking for and/or will need in the future. Finally they are the gate that can block you if they don't like you.

Lets learn some tips and tricks to get you through the Gate keeper.

  1. First and foremost remember they are people just like you and me. Don't bully them, treat them like dirt, or give them attitude. If you do, then you are going to get the phone hung up on your or left on hold forever. Instead, treat them with kindness every time you call. Ask them question about what is going on with the business and real world.
  2. Be honest with the Gate Keeper, tell them your looking for person X to discuss product or service Y. Chances are the person you are calling about is not the one who is on your list. For example you are are calling the CEO Jim and you are selling an advertising service, when talking to the gate keeper you tell them the story. They will say you don't need Jim, but Mike in marketing he is the best one to discuss this and we maybe looking for that service shorty.
  3. If for some reason you can't get through even after the gate keeper has sent you through for a voice mail. Ask the gate keeper if you can stop by on X day between 10 AM and 12 PM to drop off some donuts, a business card, and some information for the prospect. Usually they will say "Free food!! YES, please drop off, but can't promise they will be around, but will make sure they get everything!" Then you call back in two days after drop off, tell them you are the person with the donuts and they will let you through and 95% of the time get the prospect on the phone.
  4. Last tip I will leave you today is remember to be you! Don't shove your way in, don't talk down to the person, be honest, friendly and kind. Chances are you are going to have to call in a bunch of times just to get the prospect on the phone and not their voice mail anyways, so get to know the gate keeper. Be their friend, cause if it all works chances are you are going to meet them face to face for the meeting anyway.

There are more helpful hints I have, but just use those to get started! This should help you get that foot in the door and start moving everything in the direction you want! Remember be kind, friendly, and don't bully! Happy hunting!
